Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 11, 2026

Dopa Elabs SL (“we”, “our” or “us”) publishes the Fono and Dopa mobile applications for iOS and Android (together, the “Apps”) and this website. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Apps, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

By using the Apps, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Name and email address
  • Account login information, if you register with email and password
  • The username and avatar you choose for leagues and matches
  • Your learning preferences, such as the language you learn, your daily goal, your study reminder time and, in Fono, your tutor
  • Information you choose to provide when you contact us, including problem reports and feedback you send from the App. A report includes the app version, your device model and operating system, and, if you report a lesson, the lesson and exercise you reported.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information (model, operating system, app version and device identifiers)
  • Advertising identifier, where you allow it
  • IP address
  • App usage and learning activity (lessons completed, answers, progress, streaks and league scores)
  • Crash logs and diagnostics

1.3 Sign-in With Google or Apple

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the profile information that service shares with us, such as your name, email address and profile picture, depending on the service and your settings. If you use Sign in with Apple, you can choose to hide your email address from us.

1.4 Microphone and Speech Recognition

Speaking exercises use your device's microphone, with your permission. Your speech is converted to text by the speech recognition service of your device's operating system (Apple on iOS, Google on Android) so the App can check your answer. You can turn off microphone access at any time in your device settings.

1.5 Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive your payment card details. We receive information about your purchase, such as the product, its status and its renewal date, so we can unlock premium features.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the Apps and save your progress across devices
  • Manage your account and preferences
  • Run weekly leagues, including showing your username, avatar and league score to other players in your league
  • Process purchases and subscriptions
  • Send study reminders, notifications and customer support messages
  • Show ads and measure their performance
  • Analyze usage, fix crashes and improve the Apps
  • Protect the Apps against fraud and abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Third-Party Services We Use

  • Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics and App Check): accounts, data storage, notifications, analytics, crash reporting and app security
  • Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple: authentication
  • RevenueCat: managing purchases and subscription status
  • Google AdMob and Google User Messaging Platform: serving ads and collecting ad consent

These providers process information as described in their own privacy policies:

4. Advertising and Your Choices

The free versions of the Apps show ads through Google AdMob. Premium removes ads.

  • Where required, such as in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we ask for your consent before showing personalized ads. You can change your choice at any time from Privacy Settings in the App's settings.
  • On iOS, ads are only personalized using your advertising identifier if you allow tracking. You can change this in your iPhone's Settings under Privacy & Security › Tracking.
  • On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings.

5. Sharing Your Information

  • With service providers who help us run the Apps, listed above
  • With other players in your league: your username, avatar and league score
  • If required by law or legal process
  • During a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition or sale of assets
  • With your consent

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Data Retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active, or as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. When you delete your account, we delete your account information, learning progress and app settings, except where we must keep certain information to meet legal obligations. Analytics and crash data are kept for shorter periods set by our providers.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct or delete your data
  • Receive a copy of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw your consent at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

You can delete your account in the App at any time. See how to delete your account. To exercise any other right, contact us at hello@dopawords.com.

8. Children's Privacy

The Apps are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe your child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. International Transfers

Our service providers may process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. When they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
